Going Out In My Mailbag Today: 3 Items!

Items 1-3: Postcrossing Postcards to Taiwan, The Netherlands & China!

Another great day to get caught up on my Postcrossing cards! I'm pretty close to having 25 cards be received by fellow Postcrossers, which will bump up my maximum number of cards I'm allowed to send to 8 instead of 7, which is pretty exciting.

The card on the left is on its way to a ballet dancer in Taiwan who is the same age as me. Surprisingly enough, with all the cards that came in my box of Impossible postcards, none of them happened to be ballet themed. However, she also showed interest in postcards displaying vintage items on them, and that's why I picked this one out. I told her about how I read a book about a girl at a ballet academy, and that it's called Bunheads by Sophie Flack. For those that may have heard of the TV show with a similar name, I can honestly say that the two of them are completely unrelated; I've checked.

The middle card is for The Netherlands, to a woman who requested cards with people and who loves to read in her garden, and the card on the right is for a male university student in China who asked for cards with sky & landscape and who also asked book & film recommendations. To both of them I happened to mention my recent purchase of Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes - on the card heading to China I mentioned that there's also at least 1 film adaptation. I've read the short story by the same title in my first or second year, but I've yet to read the full novel and I'm very much looking forward to it.

In My Mailbox Today: 2 Items!

Item #1: Postcrossing Postcard from Uzbekistan

Unfortunately, this is one of the rare postcards that I've received from fellow Postcrossers where they don't write a whole lot on the opposite side. Honestly, I don't see the fun in sending out postcards to people if you don't take the time to write something about yourself to share with a person in another part of the world. Either way, the image on the card is rather unique.

Item #2: Postcard Order from Luke Riot, aka +Luka Kelly

When I first saw the Spider man sticker on the back of this red envelope I plucked out of the mailbox, I originally thought it was something from SparkleGirlJen, who had sent me the Marvel stickers I used on the most recent letter to my boyfriend. Instead I noticed the very pretty return address sticker with the name of one of the geeky bloggers I wrote about in my second rendition of Geeks Run The World!

As I mentioned in that post, I ordered some postcards from her shop on Etsy, and they arrived in this envelope decorated by Spider man and this awesome Superman stamp. One thing I fudged up in my article was that the third postcard in the bunch I ordered was not from TMNT, but was the Green Ranger. I'd like to plead that I was overtired when writing that post, but unfortunately I was at school and wide awake between classes, so it's just a matter of me being forgetful and blind XD

Inside the envelope I of course received the three postcards I ordered, but that's not all that I found. Included inside were two business cards for Hellhound Fashion. I'll definitely be holding onto those cards and checking out the website for myself - hopefully when I actually have money, so that I'm not just torturing myself XD

There was also a fourth postcard included in the mix, with the same image of a girl with a green Mohawk with a god with a skull covering its head, advertising Hellhound on the back along with the usual space for a stamp and for a message to be written by the sender. Typically I know that Postcrossing members don't appreciate cards with ads on them, but the art on the card is so awesome that I'm sure I'll find somebody to send it to that will fully appreciate it :) I recommend people check out the Hellhound site, as well as Luka's blog, with further samples of her art as well as other geekery, which we all love.

I'll keep you guys posted with what I send out/receive in the mail next!
